A long day of testing
Stepping onto the track as the sole representative of the Tech3 team at the last Spanish Grand Prix due to the injuries of Maverick Viñales and Pol Espargarò, also in the post-race test at Jerez de la Frontera Enea Bastianini was the only rider to ride the French team’s KTM RC16. Author of 43 total laps, the rider from Rimini set the best time at 1:36.687, equivalent to 12th place in the combined times ranking.
A day that served the ‘Beast’ to improve the feeling with the bike, as well as to work with the team to perfect corner entry and rear grip with different configurations. The test session ended positively for the 2020 Moto2 champion, as confirmed by his comments upon returning to the pits:
“I can be happy with today’s test, I think we worked hard and it went well – he said – during the morning session I tested several parts for the factory, including a new fairing and some rear components, and then in the afternoon we focused on some areas where I had difficulties. A fundamental priority, which I have already talked about, is the difficulties I had with the tires during the race, so this afternoon I used a set of used tires to try to better understand the situation and get further data to analyze. I think it was a great job and today I felt good on the bike. I wasn’t able to complete a Time Attack, but my other laps were very competitive and I stayed close to the group ahead of me. I am happy with the progress we made today and I think we can be competitive at Le Mans.”
