What a show in Imola
A masterful pole by a handful of milliseconds in the Monaco of WEC: Antonio Giovinazzi secured pole position in the 6 Hours of Imola, beating Ryo Hirakawa’s Toyota #8 by 11 milliseconds and Antonio Fuoco’s sister Ferrari 499P #50 by 40 milliseconds.

“It was a beautiful and very intense day, with a Hyperpole where only on the last attempt I managed to put together a lap that I would say was almost perfect – said Giovinazzi – I couldn’t be happier to have secured another pole position in front of our Tifosi. Looking ahead to tomorrow, I expect a certainly difficult race, with several opponents capable of fighting for the very top positions, and the weather variable that could be decisive. We expect a hard-fought 6 Hours of Imola, we hope it will be a memorable race for all the public who will come to support Ferrari”.

Ferrari will race with two spearheads as #50 will start in the slipstream of #51: “Both qualifying and Hyperpole were very enjoyable sessions – said Antonio Fuoco – in the latter I made a small mistake, without which I might have achieved pole position, but overall we are in a good position, and I am happy for the team, considering that we will start first and third with the 499P numbers 50 and 51. We are aware that the race will be difficult and that the gaps between competitors are close, moreover, rain is expected during the six hours which could make the challenge even more complex. We will do our best to have a great Sunday in front of the Italian Tifosi”.
