Third stint for the #50
After Tuesday’s Prologue, the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Autodrome in Imola hosted on Friday, April 17th the two free practice sessions that officially opened the activities of the first round of the FIA WEC championship.

At the end of the first one hour and thirty minutes session, which started at 9:30 in the morning, the three Ferrari 499P engaged in this first seasonal appointment were the fastest, occupying the top three positions, with number 83 setting the best time. In the second afternoon session, which started at 15:15, the fastest of the Maranello cars was number 50, with the third fastest time.
Free Practice 1
The first session was held over 90 minutes with the air temperature ranging between 19.5°C and 22.5°C, while the asphalt temperature ranged from almost 28 to 35°C. In this session, the three Ferraris occupied the top three positions with the number 83 of AF Corse driven by Robert Kubica along with the two official drivers Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson being the fastest thanks to a time of 1’31”739. The trio in the Giallo Modena AF Corse car completed 46 laps, as many as the Ferrari – AF Corse 499P number 50 of the official drivers Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen who obtained the second best time with 1’31”762. The other official drivers and reigning champions of the number 51 Ferrari – AF Corse, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado completed 32 laps and achieved the third time with 1’31”982.

Free Practice 2
The second session started at 15:15, with air temperature always below 25°C and asphalt temperature between 38.5°C and 42.5°C, saw the Ferrari 499P number 50 with Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen set the third fastest time with 1’31”036. Close behind was the 51 of Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi, which with 1’31”087 placed fourth. Seventh was number 83 of Kubica-Ye-Hanson who recorded a time of 1’31”380.
The schedule
Activities resume today with Free Practice 3 lasting one hour starting at 10:30, while at 15:10 the 12 minutes of Qualifying will start and at 15:30 the Hyperpole. The six-hour race is scheduled for Sunday, April 19th from 13:00 (local time).
