Alex, a complicated start
Last year Alex Marquez had started the season with three second places in the Sprint and the race, so much so that he left Austin as the world championship leader. An excellent result, given that the Spaniard was using a bike from the previous year.
In this 2026 Alex Marquez started the world championship with the Ducati identical to the official ones, but in the race he did not go beyond sixth place (in Brazil) and in the Sprint beyond fourth (Austin). A decline that did not only concern him, but the entire Ducati squad, which is chasing Aprilia.

Alex Marquez: “The GP26 less suited to me, but it has more potential”
During an event for Momoven, Alex Marquez explained: “The weeks of break before Jerez were useful to analyze and understand where we are and what we lack. The character of the GP24 suited my riding style better – it didn’t struggle so much entering the corner – but the GP26 once set up has more potential. We are only at the third race, there is no need to panic. I hope Jerez can be the turning point.”

On Aprilia’s dominance, Alex Marquez explained: “Their superiority was both surprising and predictable. Aprilia is stable and has found a really valid package. A bad start does not mean we will finish badly. We have to keep pushing, believe in it and improve.”
