Williams at Goodwood
Williams has announced the driver line-up that will take part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026: Damon Hill, James Vowles, Luke Browning and Jamie Chadwick will be the stars of the famous hill climb at the wheel of the FW18. The Briton, Williams’ new ambassador, thus returns to the wheel of the single-seater with which he was crowned world champion 30 years ago.

After driving Nigel Mansell’s FW14B in the last edition, team principal Vowles will return to Goodwood to get behind the wheel of the car that dominated the 1996 World Championship with 12 wins out of 16, which gave the Grove team its eighth and penultimate Constructors’ title. For reserve driver Browning, it is his debut at Goodwood, while Chadwick returns after previous appearances at the wheel of the FW08 and the FW14B.
Hill’s words
“I am delighted and excited to be reunited with my FW18, with which I won the championship, and Williams at this summer’s Festival of Speed“, this is the comment of the 1996 world champion. “Seeing the car return to Goodwood 30 years later and sharing that moment with the fans is truly incredible. Thanks to Williams for the work done in bringing the FW18 back to the track. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel“.
Vowles’ words
“Goodwood is a truly special event, showcasing the best of British motorsport, and it is an honor to participate alongside Damon, Jamie and Luke“, added Vowles. “Seeing Damon return to the wheel of the FW18 on the 30th anniversary of his drivers’ world title is extremely significant for the team and for motorsport fans. Moments like these unite our past, our present and our future, and it is something we are proud to celebrate“.
