Stellantis, Italian production returns to growth

After a 2025 judged as a “black year”, Stellantis production in Italian factories is growing again. In the first quarter of 2026, according to what was reported by the Fim Cisl Report, overall volumes increased by 9,5% for vehicles and by 22% for cars alone, thanks to the arrival of new models. Fim also indicates that for 2026 production could settle around 500.000 vehicles, with cars exceeding 300.000, thus approaching 2023 levels.

Stellantis and Italian production

The picture remains “conditioned“: stability depends in fact on both the behavior of the models already present in the plants and the actual commercial response of those introduced to the market. Despite the overall recovery, the situation remains critical in a key plant: Cassino continues to lose volumes even compared to 2025, with a decrease of -37,4%. Based on the evaluations reported in the report, for Cassino the adjustment commitments related to the change in strategy on full electric for the Large platform have not materialized. For this reason, according to Fim, it becomes urgent to quickly operationalize the projects related to Giulia and Stelvio, anticipating the launch of the new high-end model and evaluating the possible assignment of additional cars.
