F1 Regulations, seeking common ground
As reported in recent days, today April 9th saw the first of a series of meetings convened by the FIA to discuss potential changes to the much-criticized 2026 regulations of Formula 1.
At the table were the Federation, technical experts from the teams and engine manufacturers and the intention is to intervene on the most critical aspects of the regulations that emerged in the first three races.

“It was agreed between the parties that, although the events held so far have offered exciting races, there is a commitment to make changes to some aspects of the regulations within the scope of energy management. A constructive dialogue took place on complex topics, especially considering the competitive nature of the parties involved,” the Federation explained.
The FIA plan: more meetings on April 15 and 16
During the meeting, technical data emerging from the first three weekends of 2026 were evaluated and further meetings are planned over the next two weeks.
On April 15, the sporting regulations will be discussed and the magnifying glass will be put on changes to section B, as a first step to facilitate technical changes.
On April 16, another technical session, in which today’s points and others that have emerged in the meantime will be discussed.

April 20 will be the key day: team principals will also be present and there will be a vote on the proposals generated by the technical teams in previous meetings and a consensus will be sought on the path forward. The Federation finally underlined the spirit of collaboration that emerged in this phase between teams, engine manufacturers, the commercial rights holder and the FIA itself.
The agreed changes will then be submitted to the FIA World Council, which will meet in an extraordinary session for an electronic vote.
