Sprint avenged

Speaking to Sky Sport MotoGP, #72 emphasized how much he wanted to make people forget the crash he had in the Sprint: “Yesterday I made a mistake that shouldn’t have happened. A shame. The team stayed very close to me; I was quite down after the Sprint. I had managed the race well, but then I got carried away and made a stupid mistake – Bezzecchi said – that’s why today it was even more important to have a good race: I’m happy and excited. I’ve dreamed for a long time of having a good race on this track, which I’ve always liked but where I’ve never managed to finish as I would have liked. Having a race like this was fantastic“.
The only real scare the World Championship leader experienced was during the first lap, when he came into contact with Pedro Acosta, damaging the wings of his tail unit: “The collision with Acosta? I saw him go wide, I dove inside and when I looked up I had already hit him. I was sorry, but in the end that’s how it is; if I had been in his shoes, I would have taken it (the hit). The race was tough, because this track easily leads you to make mistakes and want to do a bit more under braking, especially when the tank empties like yesterday in the Sprint. I kept maximum concentration for every lap because I wanted to avoid even the slightest smudge. I knew a good race was possible if I did everything right. I was motivated after throwing away the Sprint“.
Bezzecchi’s final comment was reserved for those who, along with him, are becoming the three musketeers of Italian sport: “The relationship with Sinner and Antonelli? Kimi and I spoke this morning because unfortunately I couldn’t watch the race live, but when I woke up I immediately checked the results and sent him a message right away. Tonight, after everything we have to do here, I’ll watch it. Regarding Jannick, I have to say it was a great surprise, because I’m clearly a fan of his, like practically all of Italy, and he contacted me after Brazil. For me, it was an incredible satisfaction to get to know him, to be able to chat, even just by message, and I hope we’ll have a chance to meet. We spoke because he also won a few days ago, so it’s truly legendary to have this support from these two Italian prides“.
