The 2021 world champion is living a ‘tourist’ 2026 riding a Yamaha with which relations are irreparably strained. Inside El Diablo, however, a living fire smolders that makes the embers under the ash pale.

“I am a hungry dog – Quartararo said in an interview with the outlet motorsport.com – a dog that hasn’t eaten for three days, that when it sees food in front of it you will see how it will throw itself on it. Right now I am like that dog. I know that when I have a real chance to win or to fight to be ahead, I will do it, as I did at Silverstone in 2025.”
At Silverstone, in fact, a year ago Quartararo seemed set for success also thanks to the correct choice of tire when a damper failure made vanish what seemed a dream and remained so.

The French rider is counting down to his debut riding the Honda in the end-of-season Valencia tests: “To be honest, every night when I go to bed, I think about how that first outing with the Honda will go. But not only that test in Valencia. It will be a bit strange, because I have done my whole career on Yamaha and it is a very big change. It’s not dizziness, but desire, nervousness. But if I made the decision to go there, it is to give everything.”
