A flashback from Barcelona
It certainly was not a boring Saturday that Raul Fernandez experienced at Aragon. The Trackhouse team rider finished eighth in the short race at MotorLand, after being involved in several battles in the early phase of the GP. In particular, Fernandez certainly did not back down when it came to dueling with Jorge Martin, the World Championship leader and his teammate at Aprilia, although for a different team.

A confrontation that immediately recalled the one in Barcelona, which ended with contact between the two and a crash, but fortunately in this case it was resolved in a less dramatic way. Certainly, Fernandez may have raised some eyebrows in the Noale pit wall, but the Spaniard defended his behavior.
Hard on everyone, not just Martin
“As I have always said, I try to be respectful to everyone – Fernandez commented to Sky Sport MotoGP – I tried with Jorge [Martin] yes, but not because he is Jorge. I fought also with Pedro [Acosta], with Moreira. I tried to give 100%. Now I am frustrated [because of the result], but I know I can sleep well because I gave everything”. Unlike what Bezzecchi and Martin did, Fernandez chose to run the Sprint with the medium rear tire. A decision that perhaps, in hindsight, proved to be wrong.

“Would it have gone better with the soft rear? Maybe yes – Fernandez admitted to Sky – but we talked about this with the team before leaving for the Sprint. We had to try to understand what happens with the medium tire, because for us the long race is more important than the Sprint. It’s true that personally I didn’t expect to suffer so much and thought I would be closer to the front, but the important thing is that we have a lot of information for tomorrow, because for us the important thing is to be ready tomorrow”.
