Lamborghini, Chinese supercars are not scary

In recent years, competition for Lamborghini has become increasingly fierce. But the Bull’s house does not fear the growing number of two-door sports cars arriving on the market, especially those produced in China. And the reason is explained by Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini: the models in this segment made by Chinese rivals are not able to match the emotions conveyed by the Italian brand’s models.

Lamborghini does not fear Chinese supercars

Sports cars of this type from the Asian country are arriving, and they are not few. Think of the YangWang U9, which set a new top speed record for production cars at the end of last year. Or the new Denza Z, equipped with three electric motors, with a power of 1,582 HP and a price lower than that of a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS. A scare for Lamborghini? No, according to Winkelmann. We do not consider them a threat because they produce electric cars, he told Auto Express.

A matter of emotions

The head of the Bull’s house then argued: “If we say we do not produce electric cars for a reason, then there is also an idea behind our way of seeing our rivals or Chinese manufacturers.” He then added that Chinese brands cannot compete in terms of performance, sound, and emotions. Perhaps when talking about performance it does not exactly hit the point, while as far as sound and emotions are concerned, it certainly does. And even the Chinese themselves know it: in recent years, for example, GWM has worked on its own mid-engine supercar, which however will not be electric.
