From September 8 to 12 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Automechanika will take place. It is the fair that brings together the classic car community and the international players of the automotive aftermarket to present innovations, trends, and new technologies. For the first time in history, Opel Classic will participate in the event with its own stand. The German company intends to show the public its over 100 years of automotive history, with classics from 1899 to 2000.

Opel at Automechanika 2026
Stealing the show will be the “Sistem Lutzmann” Patentmotorwagen. It was the first Opel built at the Rüsselsheim site: it left the production line in spring 1899. The 1,545 cm3 horizontal single-cylinder engine, with a bore of 122 millimeters and a stroke of 132, delivered a maximum power of 3.5 HP at 650 rpm, which was transmitted to the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox with a drive belt. The maximum speed of the motorized vehicle was about 20 km/h. After a few months, more powerful and faster versions were introduced.
Concept cars and more
Then space for the Opel Blitz LF8 TSA fire truck, a classic example of a service vehicle from the 1950s and 60s. It was based on the chassis of the Opel Blitz commercial vehicle. At the time, this vehicle carried up to nine people and was equipped with a portable fire pump and a full range of firefighting equipment. There will also be concept cars, above all the Opel MAXX from 1995. And finally, there will be classics such as the Opel Manta “Targa Florio 1974” with wide bodywork or the legendary Opel Calibra V6 4×4 from the DTM.
