The Japanese manufacturer has been dry in MotoGP since 2019 and next year will try to return to the top of the category with Fabio Quartararo who has decided to leave Yamaha after eight years as a rider for the three-tuning-fork brand with which he won the world title in 2021.
Yamaha in this 2026 is not managing to replicate the highlights – especially in Qualifying – recorded in 2025. The project related to the V4 engine still has to ‘take off’, but El Diablo did not want to give further trust to the M1. Yamaha will restart with Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura. The 2024 world champion and current championship leader is not worried by the current poor performance of the Japanese bike.

Next year or in two years people will be able to talk and say whatever they want – Martin’s words to DAZN microphones – in life you have to make certain decisions and this one to go to Yamaha was more considered than the rushed decision to go to Aprilia two years ago. I have always made the decisions that were best for me and my family. We will see what happens next year. After all, even two years ago I was leading the standings and Aprilia was a disaster.”
