Montoya fears that Kimi might pay for his eagerness
“Mercedes was not a surprise, Antonelli was”. Juan Pablo Montoya highlighted that the verdict of this first half of the season is indeed surprising. How many would have predicted that the driver with the most wins at the halfway point would be Andrea Kimi Antonelli?

The Italian driver has won six of the eleven races held and without the technical problem in Silverstone the tally would have been seven wins. Antonelli leads the championship standings with 50 points advantage over Lewis Hamilton and has his sights set on the first world title of his career in his second season in F1.
Montoya sees only one danger for Antonelli and if he were in the Mercedes pit wall he would study strategies to minimize wheel-to-wheel duels: “If they can prevent Kimi from behaving like a young and aggressive driver and from getting carried away by the eagerness of the race when fighting with rivals, I think he will become world champion – Montoya added when reached by Betpack – if the rivals challenge him and he has the chance to overtake them, he might end up crashing and doing things just to prove to everyone that he is number one.”
So far Antonelli has not risked too many incidents when he had to duel. The hottest challenge was with George Russell in Canada both in the Sprint and the GP, but Russell’s technical failure served Antonelli the victory on a silver platter.
