Electrification is gaining ground in the Suzuki range. In ten years, the Japanese car manufacturer has reached 240,000 electrified sales. In 2016, the company decided to focus decisively on decarbonizing its offer, introducing a series of hybrid technologies that, by June 2026, have brought over 240,000 cars onto Italian roads. The decisive step was taken starting from 2020, when the entire Suzuki range marketed in Europe and Italy became 100% hybrid.

Suzuki, a hybrid that convinces
As mentioned, it all started in 2016, when the company chose to invest in hybridization with the introduction of the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki technology, or SHVS. It was one of the first 12V hybrid solutions. The Suzuki Baleno was the first model to introduce this technology, followed shortly after by the Swift, the brand’s best-selling model worldwide with over 10 million units. Over time, the philosophy of the Japanese brand has never changed: to develop compact, light, and efficient cars while maintaining at the same time. Alongside electrification, the company has continued to develop one of the technologies that most distinguish it: the AllGrip all-wheel drive.
Electrified sales in Italy
Today, Swift Hybrid represents the flagship model of this strategy, with almost 80,000 units sold. Following are Ignis Hybrid (over 71,000 units), Vitara Hybrid (about 55,000 units), and S-Cross Hybrid (almost 29,000 units). Added to these are Baleno Hybrid, Swace Hybrid, and Across Plug-in Hybrid, which together have recorded about 8,000 registrations. The numbers show that three out of four Suzuki cars sold in Italy since 2016 are equipped with electrified technology. And from hybrid, the transition moves to electric, with the launch of the new eVitara, the brand’s first 100% electric car.
