The world championship wears out those who have not yet won it
On Silverstone Thursday, Marc Marquez had given a title to journalists by emphasizing how for him winning one more or one less world championship “does not change his life“. The Spaniard, with nine titles in his trophy cabinet including seven in MotoGP, had contrasted his state of mind with the rivals who are competing with him for the 2026 championship. For many of them (except Martin) in fact it would be their first world championship and therefore it is reasonable to think that they would be less calm than him, having the opportunity of a lifetime ahead.
Martin, the only one with Marc who has already won
Marc Marquez had obviously excluded from this speech Jorge Martin, who already won a world championship in 2024: for the Ducati rider the awareness of knowing how to bring home a result of this magnitude changes the approach to the challenge.
Before the Silverstone race, Martin leads the standings with +17 over Ogura, +27 over Bezzecchi, +29 over Marc Marquez and +31 over Di Giannantonio.
Jorge’s playful response
In a long interview granted to the Spaniards of Dazn, Jorge Martin responded to Marquez’s observation, bringing his direct experience and essentially sharing the rival’s speech: “Marc has won many times more than me and has an advantage. But it is clear that when you have already won it is different“.

Martin then let himself go to a rather colorful reflection: “I remember when I had not won, the many doubts I had. Your a** tightens and it is really very difficult“, he explained with a laugh. The Aprilia rider then continued: “But now I have an advantage: it will not happen to me anymore. Before everyone asked me if I would win the world championship, now I don’t even know how many points I have. Before I was obsessed with how many points I had and how many others had. Now I just want to improve every day and every race. The change is huge.”
