Dad Max
Last May 2, 2025 Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet became parents to the little Lily, who expanded their family already made up of Penelope, the girl Piquet had with Daniil Kvyat in 2019.
Verstappen has not often spoken about his daughter and so what he said to Formule1.nl is particularly interesting to understand the priorities of the Dutch champion, who has repeatedly hinted at the possibility of leaving the Circus.

Verstappen: “Lily is my greatest treasure”
In the interview with the Dutch magazine, Max Verstappen was asked what he was most proud of, whether it was some world title, a particular victory, or a specific memory.
The 28-year-old Red Bull driver’s answer was surprising because it went beyond the limits of the track: “What am I most proud of? Of the little one at home, she is the most beautiful and important thing. Our daughter Lily is my greatest treasure. Family is the most important thing to me.”

Verstappen then drew a parallel between what happens to him with Lily and what happened to him when Jos used to leave home to go to races: “This morning, for example, when I left the little one was standing near the elevator as I was leaving. And then the doors closed… Well, it’s not a nice feeling. She had just woken up, I had taken her out of bed and cuddled her for a while and then I had to leave.”

Max then continued: “These are not pleasant moments. You know it’s part of the game. And it happened to me first when I was little and my father left. I cried and all that and my father also always found it hard to bear.” Verstappen then ended the tender moment with a joke: “I know it’s a phase that’s part of the game. Sooner or later it will change and she won’t want to have anything to do with me anymore and she will say: ‘Dad, please go away!’”.
