Red Bull has been trying for several weeks to ‘flush out’ Max Verstappen and the Dutchman’s entourage to prevent the scenario that would see the four-time world champion use the exit clauses to free himself from the contract that binds him to the Milton Keynes team until 2028.

Before the Austrian GP there was a meeting between the parties that did not lead to progress and according to rumors Mateschitz junior was quite furious and ready to ‘sink’ Verstappen. Oliver Mintzlaff, the CEO, is instead more patient and less impulsive. To give a few more details to better frame the situation, Juan Pablo Montoya stepped in.
“From what I heard before the Austrian Grand Prix, Red Bull and Max met and told him they wanted to remove the clauses that allow Verstappen to leave – Montoya told Betpack – Red Bull offered Verstappen 30 million on top of his 50 million contract, but Max and his entourage responded that they want double that“.

“I still believe Verstappen could also establish that the grass is not always greener on the other side – Montoya added – does he really want to go to Mercedes to challenge Kimi Antonelli who is Toto Wolff’s protégé? Or go to McLaren to compete with Lando Norris who is Zak Brown’s ‘godson’ and golf partner? At Red Bull Max is the undisputed king and can do whatever he wants.”
