MotoGP Thailand, the Sprint report

Between the two pre-race favorites, Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez, Pedro Acosta steps in. The Tiburón wins his first-ever race in MotoGP (between Sprint and MotoGP), earning the first 12 points of the championship. A victory effectively awarded by race direction: the stewards penalize Marquez for an overtake at turn 12 on the penultimate lap that pushed Acosta wide at the end of an exciting duel; the world champion must yield the position to his compatriot, who accepts the gift but would certainly have preferred to win in another way, also because it is a very debatable decision, with Marquez executing a decisive but not malicious maneuver, closing the corner while holding the apex.

Marquez does not cause controversy (but Davide Tardozzi does), also because his shoulder condition does not yet allow him to be at 100%. And besides, these three lost points are less heavy than Bezzecchi‘s zero. The poleman lost the front on the second lap at turn 8: a shame for #72, beaten at the start by Marquez but who showed in just a few corners that he could fight on equal terms with the world champion.

Third place for Raul Fernandez, confirming his qualifying position, followed by the other Aprilias of Ai Ogura and Jorge Martin (who, however, is under investigation for tire pressure). Francesco Bagnaia‘s comeback stops at ninth place behind Binder, Mir, and Di Giannantonio: a mocking race for Diggia, sent wide at the start by a wrong maneuver from Alex Marquez. The latter, incredibly, is not penalized: mysteries of this new MotoGP.
