Undoubtedly the Thailand GP Sprint was a spectacular race, with the beautiful battle between Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta which saw the young KTM rider emerge as the winner. A victory favored by the Race Direction’s decision, which required Marquez to yield the first position to his rival during the last lap for an overtaking attempt judged beyond what the regulations allow.
In the post-race interviews, Marc Marquez showed great fair play, emphasizing that he accepted the imposed decision and had to adapt to the line set by the MotoGP ‘referees’, without “crying“.

A politically correct response, worthy of an experienced 33-year-old rider who does not intend to cause controversy through the media. But a video released by Dazn Spain showed how Marc Marquez sarcastically applauded Race Direction at the exit of the last corner on his lap back to the pits. A sign that the Spaniard was far from welcoming the Stewards’ decision…
Marquez then hinted at a regret to Dazn Spain: “When I saw the message I thought: ‘No, I’m not giving up the position’. Then I thought it would be a 3-second penalty and I let him pass. But if I had prepared better, I would have overtaken him again before the finish line. I reacted quickly, but now I would do it differently.”
