Mercedes Dominance at Monza
Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Italian GP at Monza starting from the back of the grid. The red flag needed after Charles Leclerc’s accident essentially gave the Italian driver the chance to recover ground very quickly and once he got into George Russell’s slipstream after an extra stop and a scare at the First Chicane, he made the overtaking move that secured a dream victory.

Toto Wolff told Sky that Antonelli closed a circle at Monza after the accident at Parabolica in FP1 of 2024 when he debuted in F1: “He closed the circle, he showed why we put him in the car – Wolff said – today he did a fantastic job”.
