Williams, flop season
Williams had approached the new technical regulations with great confidence, following the fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship in 2025. However, the Grove team is going through a difficult year, with results that do not meet the expectations created at the start of the championship.

Scoring points, for Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, is very difficult, and only the skill of this undeniably experienced pair has allowed James Vowles’ team to close the first part of the championship with 11 points. Getting more after the break will be even more complex, because the “scramble package” is crowded among Alpine, Racing Bulls, and Audi (and Aston Martin could join); moreover, according to number 23, even the updates from Baku will not solve the problems.
Albon’s words
“It’s a shame that we find ourselves in this situation. We are moving in the right direction, but I doubt we will solve the problems in Baku. I think most of what concerns that weekend has already been done. That update had been planned for a long time,” this is Albon’s comment.
“Most of what we are really focusing on concerns the 2027 car, unfortunately. It’s about making sure that next year’s car does not have these characteristics – it’s frustrating, because I can’t drive now,” he added.
Williams’ difficulties stem from delays in the delivery of the FW48 project. An aspect that has led to embarrassments (such as missing the shakedowns in Barcelona) and difficulties in developing the car. While the problem seems to be scaled down, gaps remain evident in terms of balance and performance.
