Behind Lindblad
It is a decidedly ‘sharp’ Max Verstappen who appeared in front of the microphones of the official F1 channel for the traditional interviews at the end of the first day of track activity on the brand new Madring circuit, the venue of this year’s Spanish GP. In the FP2 session, the four-time Red Bull world champion recorded the sixth time, just a couple of tenths behind the surprising Arvid Lindblad, who with the ‘little sister’ Racing Bulls achieved the fourth time in the standings despite a bad crash that prematurely ended his session.
“I don’t drive that car, so I don’t know how fast it is – replied a seemingly annoyed Verstappen at the observation about being behind Lindblad – but from our point of view we are more or less where we expected; I just have to work a bit on the setup and try to get a bit more in the single lap, then see how the tires hold up in the long run, but I think everyone is more or less in the same situation“.

Madring not exciting
Verstappen was then decidedly taciturn when asked for an evaluation of the new circuit; the Dutchman simply replied with a lackluster “Yeah“. To the journalist who tried to dig a little deeper into the thoughts of Red Bull’s #3, Verstappen replied: “Yes, I don’t know. I’m not a fan of street circuits and that will never change. I will always prefer to drive on a track like Spa. I mean, for how they made everything, I think they did a really good job, but I’m not a fan of street circuits“. Curtain.
