Hamilton comments on Verstappen’s renewal
Lewis Hamilton will still find Max Verstappen on the track for several more years. The Dutch superstar has renewed his contract with Red Bull until 2030, promising to adapt to the new regulations (which he continues to criticize, but he highlighted the improvements made during the season).

This is a challenge that has marked a generation and that, thanks to the growing harmony between Sir Lewis and Ferrari, has been revisited on several occasions in 2026. In the latest, at the Hungaroring, Verstappen surprised Hamilton with a legendary maneuver in turn 1 that practically ruined the race of number 44. And upon returning from the break, the Ferrari driver commented on the contract extension of the four-time world champion with Red Bull.
Hamilton’s words on Verstappen
“I think Max is in a great team. I mean, he keeps improving more and more. He has been with Red Bull for a very long time, it’s really a fantastic place to live and work,” commented the Ferrari driver.

“If you look at history, some drivers have changed teams many times. Sometimes it’s a good thing, sometimes it’s a bad thing. Obviously the easiest thing is to always stay where you feel comfortable. It’s his choice and it’s not a bad choice.”
Dispelling any doubts about staying for 2027, and even tying himself to Red Bull until 2030 (net of the usual exit clauses), Verstappen will break one of Hamilton’s records. The Dutchman will become the driver with the most GPs raced for the same team: leading – still for a short time – the ranking is the Englishman with 246 GPs in Mercedes, followed by the Verstappen-Red Bull pair at 221.
