The last weekend in Zandvoort ended with an accident for Max Verstappen who definitely did not say goodbye to his audience in the way he would have hoped.

After enchanting in Hungary with the overtake on Lewis Hamilton, this time the four-time world champion ended up behind the blackboard. The line between a phenomenon and a tightrope walker on the wet is sometimes thin and for once Verstappen, the rain wizard, paid the price demolishing his Red Bull at the exit of the banked corner that closes the lap in Zandvoort.
“I saw a dry patch and I threw myself into it trying to gain more speed – Verstappen explained to the microphones of Sky – obviously there was no grip yet and what happened, happened.”
