A good race
Given the premises, which spoke of an eight-tenths disadvantage to Mercedes, Ferrari can be cautiously satisfied with the performance seen during the Australian Grand Prix. The gap seemed less wide and the Rossa seems to be clearly the second force on the starting grid, as evidenced by Charles Leclerc’s third place and Lewis Hamilton’s fourth.
Of course, any result that is not a victory – especially with a world championship drought approaching two decades – cannot make Ferrari fans happy, but the SF-26 seems to have been born well.

The race for updates
It will therefore be fundamental to exploit the full potential of the car and develop it in a rapid and effective manner. Team principal Frederic Vasseur focused precisely on these aspects in his analysis to Canal+: “We need to improve, but today we had a good race. We have a long list of things to improve on the car, in the team, in execution, and in understanding the regulations. We can be optimistic, but there is a lot of work to do.”

Vasseur continued: “Yesterday we hadn’t done a good job and we were frustrated. Until now everyone has been hiding a lot and it was difficult to have a real image of Mercedes’ performance. Today we know a bit more.”
Now already focused on development: “The goal is to work harder and more intensely than the others, progress more quickly and catch Mercedes as soon as possible. We will have updates soon. Already in China? Difficult, there’s only one week left.”
