Yamaha, the crisis continues

The start of the World Championship confirmed the complicated moment for Yamaha from a technical perspective. Fabio Quartararo tried to save what could be saved, taking the M1 from 18th place in free practice to 16th in Practice, reaching at most a provisional P13 which in any case would not have been enough to earn him Q2. The world champion knows that this will be another transition season and is not making a drama out of it.

Today the conditions were a bit strange. We decided to start riding with new tires quite early in free practice because it was raining and windy and we wanted to set a fast lap. For this reason, at the end of the session we had no more new tires. We are trying to find the right direction and I gave my best with my team“.

Rins’s words

This morning I felt quite good with the medium rear tire. I managed to do the same lap times I had done in the tests. I was in great shape, but this afternoon I wasn’t able to get the same lap times as this morning“, added Alex Rins. “We fitted two or three soft tires and, in the end, I set my best time with a front tire that was 12 laps old and a rear that was five laps old. We need to understand why. Tomorrow we will have another opportunity“.
