On the eve of the first round of the 2026 season, where free practice took place today at the Phillip Island circuit, comforting news has arrived at Honda HRC from the Melbourne hospital: Jake Dixon has successfully undergone surgery on his left wrist and hand following the crash that occurred on Tuesday during the Official Tests at the Australian circuit.

The Japanese team announced the positive outcome of the operation in a note: “Jake Dixon successfully underwent surgery at ‘The Avenue Hospital’ in Melbourne due to several fractures in his left wrist and hand, sustained on Tuesday during the second day of the official WorldSBK test at Phillip Island. After an initial assessment at the circuit medical center, Dixon was transported to Melbourne, where further tests highlighted the need for surgery to stabilize the fractures. The surgery was successful and without complications. Further assessments in the coming weeks will help clarify Dixon’s recovery timeline. Team Honda HRC will provide further updates on Jake Dixon’s condition in due course.”
Dixon himself wanted to directly thank his fans and his team, doing so with a post on Instagram: “Hi everyone! I didn’t want to just post a photo and say ‘surgery done’. I wanted to give the fans a real update on how things are going. The last few days have been very stressful. First of all, I want to thank my wife. She has been a rock as always. Everyone around me, Jack, Will, obviously, Carlos, my manager who flew here. My whole team, everyone. It’s a pretty bad injury but we were able to count on the best professional in this field. I just wanted to send a big thank you to Cal Crutchlow who was on the other end of the phone the whole time. I promise to be back as soon as possible.”

The provisional line-up
Honda HRC is preparing for the first Round of the championship, but without its regular riders. Without Somkiat Chantra, who was also injured after a crash in Sepang, the team will field test rider Tetsuta Nagashima and wild card Ryan Vickers this weekend.
