The progress signed by Yamaha
The Italian Grand Prix arrives at a good moment in the season for Yamaha, which has recovered particularly thanks to the good performances of Fabio Quartararo after a rather complex start to the championship. The Frenchman, who won at Mugello in 2021 (then finishing 2nd the following year) comes from 6th place in his home GP at Le Mans, but above all from 5th in the last race held in Barcelona.

Attention to Mugello
The last result coincides with the best seasonal placement of the 2021 world champion, who will try to confirm the progress of the YZR-M1 also in Italy, but without hiding some difficulties that could arise due to the characteristics of the track: “Mugello is always a special stage – he commented – it is a really beautiful and versatile circuit, and in the past I have had fantastic moments here. We made progress at Le Mans, worked well in Barcelona and got good results, but we know that the longest straight and the consequent slipstream at Mugello will make things complicated this week. Let’s see what we can do. As always, I will do my best to get the best possible results.”

Twice on the Moto3 podium in 2013 and 2014, Alex Rins will also try to achieve a third top 15 finish this weekend, also recognizing the main obstacles for the Japanese bike: “I always like coming to Mugello: it is a really beautiful track, with a great flow, and I have already achieved good results here. After the Barcelona test we have some more ideas to try, so this weekend will be about continuing to work on the project made in the previous rounds and trying to make progress. We know that Mugello, on paper, is not the most suitable track for us, so let’s see what we can do.”
