Pirelli Test, day-2 in Imola. Ferrari also present with Giovinazzi
The second and final day of the Pirelli tests dedicated to the development of the 2027 Formula 1 tires concluded in Imola. The Ferrari, driven by Antonio Giovinazzi, and the Racing Bulls took to the track. Unlike Maranello’s team, the Faenza team fielded the regular drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

At the end of the day, Lindblad completed 73 laps, totaling 358 km. He set the best time of the day, 1:18.454. Lawson completed 65 laps (319 km): the New Zealander recorded a time 27 thousandths slower (1:18.471), but unlike his teammate, he tested C3 and C4, not the C5. Giovinazzi was the most active driver on track, with 135 laps and 663 kilometers covered, finishing his session with a best time of 1:19.894. For the Apulian, the entire program focused on the C3, alternating time attack and long run.
Including yesterday’s tests, in which the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc participated accumulating 127 laps, Pirelli gathered data for 400 laps, equivalent to 1,963 kilometers.

The tests took place in particularly hot conditions, with the asphalt reaching 49°C and an air temperature of 31°C.
The tire development program will continue in mid-October with a new session at the French circuit of Magny-Cours. On that occasion, the focus will be especially on tires intended for wet track conditions: thanks to the artificial asphalt irrigation system, Pirelli will be able to experiment and evaluate new specific solutions for rain.
