The 2026 BMW
In just two days, BMW announced two important official updates regarding the 2027 lineup. The first, chronologically, was the multi-year renewal of Miguel Oliveira, signed this year by the Bavarian team after an important experience in MotoGP. The second, instead, focused on his current teammate Danilo Petrucci, in Superbike since 2023 and winner of the Independent Trophy in 2024 and 2025. He too, like the Portuguese rider, joined the BMW project at the beginning of this season, suffering an injury in the Czech Republic that forced him to miss two more races.

Farewell after just one year
For the rider from Terni, however, his future will be different. As stated by the 35-year-old himself, at the end of the season there will be a split between him and BMW, which had bet on the two new riders to counter Ducati’s dominance and to defend the world title won by Toprak Razgatlioglu: “BMW and I have decided not to continue in WorldSBK next year – Petrux specified in a statement – we would both like to stay together in other championships but it is still too early to know. The only thing we know is that we will not continue together. It was a decision made together. We both did our best and it led us to say that we will not continue together. Especially this year I spent a lot of energy and made many sacrifices and in return I received few positive results, many crashes and a serious injury. It was hard to swallow. Honestly, I am not really looking around. I want to prioritize BMW since they helped me a lot and I want to understand what their plan is.”

So it remains to be seen what Petrucci’s future will be, but also the rider who will replace him in 2027. Already in recent weeks several profiles currently in MotoGP had not ruled out their intention to move to Superbike, with the latest rumors indicating Jack Miller as the main candidate to sign with BMW.
