The ex driver was surprised by the SF-26

The anonymous weekend in Florida was enough to circulate again rumors of a disheartened Hamilton and even close to retirement. Hamilton in Canada not only categorically denied this scenario, but was also a great protagonist achieving the second podium of the season.
Riccardo Patrese is happy that Hamilton made it clear he wants to continue for a long time: “What I really liked was when, before the race, journalists asked him if he would retire at the end of the season and he replied ‘Forget it. You will see me racing for at least another five years’. Hamilton is a different driver compared to the one seen off in action in 2025 and the credit also goes to the competitiveness of the Ferrari SF-26: “Ferrari surprised me – added Patrese – I did not expect them to be as strong as they seem at the moment. They seem a bit behind in terms of the engine, but apart from that they have a nice car. In corners, their car is the best along with Mercedes and McLaren. The chassis is good. Maybe, if they keep improving, they can really compete for the title again.”
