Hamilton and Ferrari made life difficult for themselves
The images left little room for a different verdict and what Lewis Hamilton himself expected has arrived. The Ferrari driver was penalized three positions on the Hungarian GP starting grid for impeding Oscar Piastri at Turn 1 in the final part of Q3.

Hamilton was therefore demoted from the first to the third row of the starting grid and tomorrow will start from the fifth slot on the grid.
The error was Ferrari’s pit wall’s which did not promptly warn the driver, as team principal Frederic Vasseur pointed out.
The only consolation for the Maranello Scuderia is that tomorrow at the start of the Hungarian GP there will still be an SF-26 on the front row. As a result of Hamilton’s penalty, in fact, Charles Leclerc has been promoted to the front row alongside Lando Norris.
