F1 Monaco, Norris wants to bounce back
If the Miami updates brought McLaren back to the top positions, even threatening Mercedes’ supremacy, the Canadian GP highlighted an aspect that Woking definitely needs to improve: clarity in strategies. In Montreal, the papaya team’s race was ruined by the unfortunate choice of intermediate tires instead of dry ones. Lando Norris‘s gearbox problems then did the rest: the world champion, good at getting his race back on track, therefore collected a heavy zero.

Norris therefore arrives in Monte Carlo with a great desire for redemption. Here, the #1 has collected a pole and two podiums, including the 2025 victory: repeating this will certainly be his mission, also to give a definitive turn to his championship on the occasion of the 1000th GP in McLaren’s history.
Norris’s words
“We don’t come to Monaco with the same credentials as last year, but the goal is always to try to take pole and then win the race. I believe Mercedes and Ferrari have something extra, especially Ferrari here in Monaco will be able to exploit its advantages which, on some occasions, have turned out to be disadvantages. Monaco suitable for McLaren? Very difficult to say, in Montreal we did better than in 2024, thinking about the temperatures and characteristics of these two tracks is a good sign.”

“McLaren’s 1000th GP and the fact that I am the driver with the most starts? I usually hate statistics, but this one makes me proud and honored. I wanted to race in F1 with McLaren, it was my dream and it came true, seeing my name alongside so many F1 greats of the past excites me. I am a lucky guy, I want to stay at McLaren to win again, I am proud to have been part of this journey and I want it to continue as long as possible.”
