Nissan completes the second “efficiency challenge” dedicated to hybrid e-POWER technology in real conditions, taking the Qashqai e-POWER on a full lap of Tasmania with a single 55-liter tank. After the first test, carried out at the beginning of the year, in which the same vehicle had crossed the United Kingdom from the northernmost point to the southernmost point of the country, the Japanese manufacturer once again demonstrates the capability of the technology to maintain optimized consumption in very different scenarios, including highway stretches, urban traffic, alternating weather, and challenging altitude profiles.

Nissan Qashqai e-POWER
In the UK, the first challenge took the Qashqai e-POWER along the iconic John O’Groats-Land’s End route, with typical conditions of the Northern Europe area. During the journey, the vehicle recorded 3.76 l/100 km consumption, completing 1,347 km with a single tank and finishing with 160 kilometers of remaining range. The experience highlighted how e-POWER manages to combine the responsiveness of electric driving with the practicality and range of a vehicle designed also for long distances, without sacrificing efficiency in the presence of road and weather variability.
From the United Kingdom to Tasmania
The confirmation comes from Tasmania, where the Qashqai e-POWER faced winding coastal roads, mountainous terrain, and elevation changes, alternating rural and highway stretches. Despite the complexity of the route, the vehicle covered over 1,300 km with a single tank and completed the island tour without refueling, with estimated real consumption of 4.5 L/100 km. The credit goes to the structural difference of e-POWER compared to conventional hybrids: the gasoline engine does not directly drive the wheels but serves to generate electric energy, while propulsion is entrusted exclusively to the electric motor, ensuring immediate torque, smooth acceleration, and a feeling closer to that of a 100% electric vehicle.
