MotoGP, no more wildcards
This will be the last MotoGP season with wildcards. These riders, who are not registered in the championship but can participate in some race weekends to help the most struggling manufacturers gather data on track, will have to stay in the pits starting from 2027: this was decided by the Grand Prix Commission, after meetings held between March and April.

The ban on wildcards will apply to all manufacturers, regardless of which class they have in the concession system (if it had been applied at Jerez, Augusto Fernandez would not have been able to race with Yamaha). This year they will not be allowed to use 850 cc bikes with 2027 specifications, in anticipation of the new regulatory era starting in 2027. Wildcards will remain allowed in Moto2 and Moto3.
Another change concerns a procedural aspect and will be effective immediately: in case of a delayed start of a MotoGP race, the countdown for the warm-up lap will resume from five minutes, and no longer from three minutes.

The Grand Prix Commission is composed of Paul Duparc (FIM), Mike Webb (IRTA), Biense Bierma (MSMA) and Carmelo Ezpeleta (president MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group), in the presence of Jorge Viegas (FIM President), Carlos Ezpeleta (MotoGP SEG), Corrado Cecchinelli (Technical Director), Paul King (FIM CCR Director) and Dominique Hebrard (FIM CTI Technical Director).
