‘Double’ in the points zone
For the third consecutive time, Jack Miller finished a GP in 12th place in the standings (actually 13th in the last race at Silverstone behind Quartararo, but promoted to the Frenchman’s place following the 16” penalty imposed on the latter), helping to bring the Pramac team back into the points zone. A good result for the Faenza team, also considering the 14th position of Toprak Razgatlioglu.

Yet…
In the previous German GP, the three-time Superbike world champion had reached the points zone in 15th position, but both riders felt a sense of frustration at the end of the race, as highlighted by Miller: “Today I gave everything I had, and unfortunately everything I gave was enough for 12th place – he admitted – Fabio (Quartararo) and I raced together for most of the race, and I think this shows the level we are currently at. We tried to fight with the others, but you can only do that for a certain period of time. At some point, the extra risk you have to take, whether braking harder or pushing more in the corners, starts to be felt in the second half of the race. It’s an aspect we need to work on. The track was a bit more slippery today, perhaps due to the temperature or the Moto2 race, and with everyone using the medium rear tire, it was a long and tough race. Even though we all managed the tires carefully, the drop in performance was still significant, especially in the last seven laps. The Aprilias seem to have managed the tires very well again today. We have seen them do this in different classes and on different circuits, and especially this year it seems they have found the perfect solution regarding tire conservation and management. Now we have another two weeks of break, so we will use this time to work on further improvements and come back stronger for the next race.”

Not all negative
Few satisfactions for both Miller and Razgatlioglu, but the Turkish rider still highlighted positive aspects in his first British MotoGP weekend: “The fight with Pol (Espargaró) was tough, especially because I came behind him! I made a couple of mistakes towards the end and lost time, while his bike was very fast on the straights. I tried to overtake him, but it was difficult, so we got very close. Overall, it was a tough race for tire management, although I felt better than yesterday (Sprint race, ed). I learned a lot this weekend because this track is very different from my usual riding style. There are many long corners where you have to wait, give gas, and manage acceleration, so I’m still learning to adapt my riding to MotoGP and these tires. I’m also learning a lot about engine braking and how to manage the bike. We finished in 14th place, so it wasn’t a good result for me, but I’m focusing on what I learned because it will be important when we come back here next year. I try to stay positive and now we go to Aragon, where I hope to improve and get closer to the other Yamaha riders. My goal for the season remains the same: to finish in the top ten. It won’t be easy, but I will keep giving my best and trying to get the best possible results in the remaining races.”
