Room for improvement
Second in the Sprint, second in the GP. Jorge Martin at Mugello once again confirmed his extraordinary ability to make the most even of the most complicated weekends. The consistency of performance shown by the 2024 world champion in the first third of this season has allowed him to be just 17 points behind his teammate Marco Bezzecchi, despite Aprilia’s #72 having already won four GPs while Martin’s tally this year is still stuck at one.

“Do I have the Aprilia 100% in my hands now? Not yet. The strange Balaton
“Expectations for Balaton? I don’t know – Martin continued – we’ll see during the weekend. We need to see how the sessions develop: the important thing is to start well on a track so strange compared to what we are used to. In the end, however, corners are corners: you just have to adapt to the conditions and the weather. If we do that, it can be a good weekend. Comparisons with 2024? Every season is different. It’s true that with Pecco we had the same bike and it was as if we were teammates because we had all the data, but Bagnaia had the experience of being a two-time world champion and having already fought for the World Championship, which is not easy at all. But it’s also nice to fight with Marco, we hope to have fun“.
