Mission accomplished
He leaves Aragon with the 37 points that Marc Marquez had predicted. Now the Spanish Ducati champion is second in the World Championship, caught ‘in the middle’ between the two Aprilias of Jorge Martin – still leader, with a 19-point margin – and Marco Bezzecchi, third five points behind the red #93. Speaking to Sky Sport MotoGP after the race, Marquez reiterated that he has a single strategy to try to win his tenth World Championship in his career: to bring home the maximum points on all the tracks that are best suited to his riding style.

“The important thing is that on those tracks where I feel strong, like this one, when I can ride as I want, I have to try to do my best. This is the only chance [I have] to fight for the championship and that’s what we are doing”, explained Marquez. However, the #93 also admitted to the mistake made at the start, when he did not properly deactivate the lowering device in the first corners: “I made a big mistake – Marquez acknowledged – I was wrong and forgot to unlock the rear lowering device. When you do the reconnaissance lap you activate it on the back straight, but then you have to remember to deactivate it. I didn’t remember and that’s why I took corners 2, 3, 4 and 5 all with the rear lowering device activated. Now I’ve also seen the replay and actually the one who lost the most was my brother Alex, even more than me, because he found himself stuck in the middle of everyone“.
A body to manage
The unavoidable topic, when talking about Marc Marquez, is his physical condition: “At the moment I am mainly focused on managing myself – declared the champion from Cervera – as for everything else, Ducati is doing a great job. It was seen today that the bike works. Of course, it’s true that Aprilia also works. But what I can do is manage myself to the maximum to try to give 100% on all tracks, both those that suit me better and those that suit me a little less“.
