It was more a matter of pressure, of nervousness. The pressure of not knowing whether or not I would be fast with that bike. I kept asking myself if I would be able to ride a Ducati and the engineers told me I was stupid”.

Marquez and the farewell to Honda

“Ours was like a sentimental, non-toxic relationship,” Marquez continued, speaking of his long history with Honda. The Spaniard highlighted a particular point: “I didn’t want to leave, but I knew I had to, because it would have been the best thing for me. I didn’t feel it in my heart, but in my head. It would have been wonderful to close the circle, but for me the circle is already closed this way. I didn’t want my career to end after the 2020 injury. Honda hasn’t won anymore, but I have.
