Second place in the Sprint for the nine-time world champion
The 13 laps of the Sprint Race in Thailand were like fireworks even if the final bang was missing in some ways in the beautiful confrontation between Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta. Marquez at the end of the penultimate lap after having conceded the overtake to the KTM rider in the mixed section pulled a very deep braking move from far away at the last corner. Marquez remained within the track limits and did not touch Acosta, but the latter was forced to pick up the bike going very wide, thus losing not only the lead of the race, but also contact with Marquez to be able to try to attack again.

Race Direction imposed a returning of the position on Marc Marquez and the Ducati rider moved aside at the last corner without being able to have a chance to respond since the race ended a few meters later.
Pedro Acosta stated that he does not feel like the winner, these are the words of Marc Marquez on the episode to the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP: “It was a very borderline episode, the only thing I can do as a rider is adapt to the ‘standard’ of Race Direction. I have never cried during my career and I will not cry today.”

“If they had told me that I would have finished second in the Sprint here a few weeks ago I would have signed – added Marquez– today I took nine more points than Bezzecchi and that’s what matters. He was stronger, but he made a mistake, the track was really very hot and so when I found myself in the lead I tried to set the pace without pushing too hard. What didn’t work today? I don’t know if it’s the new package or if it’s me, I decided that until Jerez I won’t draw conclusions. In 4-5 races an assessment can be made, in the meantime the important thing is to always place among the top-3″.
