Podium narrowly missed
Charles Leclerc finished in fifth place at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort, ending the race immediately behind Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as the last ‘carriage’ of the train that fought for the podium until the last lap. After the race, Leclerc analyzed what happened on track to the microphones of Sky Sport F1, starting from yesterday’s qualifying which inevitably made his weekend more difficult.

“Yesterday, more than a weak point of the car the problem was the last lap, with what we lost with the Power Unit – Leclerc reiterated – we definitely pay a bit of a price for that today, but I’m sure if we ask all the drivers in the paddock, there’s never anyone who had everything optimal for qualifying. There is disappointment for today because the pace was good, the feeling with the car was also good – even if maybe a bit less with the hard – and then in the end a Safety Car that came out not at the ideal moment for me perhaps cost us third place: I think maybe a third place would have been possible, but it went like this“.

Not satisfied
“In a weekend like this I think there was potential to do something more – Leclerc added – and as a team I think we need to look at what happened and go home not satisfied with what we did. I’m very happy that the next race is at Monza: there I had moments I will never forget in my life and I hope to add another moment I will never forget. Monza is always unique and special and I hope we will be fast. On paper it’s a bit like Spa and Silverstone, but at Spa and Silverstone we came out with a win and a podium, which is much more than we thought. I hope it will be the same“.
