‘The Boss’ spoke on X against gpblog

In a manner as always categorical and without too many words Jos Verstappen intervened on social media to bring order to the ‘chaos’ related to the hypotheses and conjectures regarding the – alleged – negotiation between Red Bull and his son Max about the future of the four-time world champion.

Verstappen senior specifically intervened on X commenting on an article from the Dutch version of the publication gpblog.com. The article in question emphasized that Red Bull is willing to fulfill any wish of Max provided that he gives up the exit clauses contained in the current agreement valid until 2028, a deadline that can indeed not be respected by Max Verstappen if certain conditions are not met.
A very difficult tangle to unravel
Regarding Verstappen’s exit clauses, everything and more has been hypothesized. Concerning 2026, immediately after the Silverstone accident which led to an immediate confrontation between Laurent Mekies and Max Verstappen’s ‘guardian angels’ (father Jos and manager Raymond Vermeulen), it emerged that Max on paper was already free to negotiate with another team because arithmetically it was impossible to finish second in the drivers’ standings at the moment the summer break would start after the Hungarian GP.
The BBC denied this scenario reporting that Max Verstappen will eventually be free to exit the contract binding him to Red Bull not before the month of October. “When there is news you will hear it directly from me”, Max Verstappen recently cut short at the press conference just before the Silverstone GP.
