Hamilton, a team radio that worries
After the first two races of the Formula 1 world championship, Ferrari fans found themselves facing a new Lewis Hamilton, smiling and in great harmony with his SF-26. But in the team radio of the FP2 of the Japanese Grand Prix, the Hamilton from last season seemed to be heard: “I’m very slow because I don’t have confidence in the car“. A few minutes before the end of the session and with a large gap from leader Oscar Piastri, the Englishman could not contain his frustration and the international broadcast immediately transmitted his outburst.
Hamilton explains the team radio
When asked by F1 microphones about that team radio, Lewis Hamilton tried to explain his feelings: “The circuit is extremely challenging and fantastic to drive, but it’s not simple to find the right balance. I think it’s simply something in the car’s set-up, there were similarities with the sensations from last year. We’re working on it, so I’m confident that during the night we’ll be able to find something to improve the situation. You need to be able to stay on the rear and feel comfortable knowing the car will follow you, but today I had some jerks and I just couldn’t keep up with the others”.
Hamilton, however, tried not to lose his optimism: “Tonight we’ll do a thorough analysis and get interesting data from the simulator. I feel like I have a sort of north star, it’s just a matter of understanding how to reach it and I’ll try to figure it out. There’s more potential in the car, it’s just a matter of understanding how to unlock it and we’ll focus on that”.
