What does Hamilton think about the new rules?
The discussions about the F1 regulatory cycle starting in 2026 have been long and complex, and the FIA’s interventions during the season and looking ahead to next year have aimed to achieve the best possible compromise, in an evidently less than ideal situation.
Recently Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of F1, highlighted how many fans not so familiar with technical matters have approached the category: “There are fans who talk about clipping during a race weekend, but there are also many who think a clip is something to put in their hair.”
Lewis Hamilton has not been among the most critical of the new rules, as he recently reiterated in an interview with La Repubblica.

“Adapting has been a technical challenge: simulator, study, engineering deep dive. Tough stuff. But our job is to do the best possible work with what we have. Complaining makes no sense, I don’t waste my energy saying whether I like these rules or not, I just apply myself. I like driving this car because it’s a car I feel is mine,” emphasized Hamilton.

Lewis until 2030-2031?
Hamilton then stressed that he firmly intends to race for many more years, despite being 41 years old: “The other day I was in a meeting and we were talking about reaction times, mine is still good, in fact my engineers told me it’s faster than most young drivers’. They say you get slower at 40, I’m 41. Sure, it takes me longer to recover but now I have many more tools that help me. I still have one year (of contract, ed.) ahead of me, it’s not the time to focus on this. But I love Ferrari, I feel at home and I intend to race for a long time. I think I will still be here with the next rules. My goal is to try to be the best, to help this team get where it deserves.”
