Ferrari had a bad outing at the Zandvoort GP, and not just in terms of points, with Lewis Hamilton heavily criticizing the team’s performance. The Briton believes that the time lost behind Charles Leclerc (who was on a different strategy) cost him the podium in the Netherlands, and he emphasized this even after the checkered flag to race engineer Carlo Santi. The numbers back Hamilton up, who in the post-race excitement, if anything, even doubled down, urging Ferrari to take example from Mercedes.

Hamilton’s strong words against Ferrari’s strategy went around the world and perhaps caused some internal discontent. The fact is that, 24 hours later, the seven-time world champion made a U-turn, expressing regret for all the radio outbursts yesterday.

Hamilton’s words

“It was a tough weekend, but we leave with valuable points for the team and signs that we are heading in the right direction,” this was the Briton’s comment on social media. “I am incredibly proud of everyone who, at the factory, keeps working on updates, improving performance, and pushing us forward. Thanks to the team on track. The commitment and effort never go unnoticed. We still have work to do, especially on the single lap, but we will keep pushing, learning, and improving together.”

“I re-listened to some of my comments on the radio and TV. In the heat of the moment, frustration can come out, especially when you care as much as I do. But that was not the best version of myself. I take responsibility and will do better,” he continued. “That passion comes from trust in this team, the people who are part of it, and what we are building together. The direction is clear. The trust is there. And the fight is absolutely still on. Thank you for continuing to support us and me. We will keep building, pushing further, and fighting. We are coming.”

Hamilton’s words come two weeks before Monza. And, for the Ferrari environment, it is good to arrive there with a calm atmosphere, at least on the surface.
