The future of Hamilton
Ferrari has never officially communicated the duration of the contractual relationship with Lewis Hamilton, started in 2025 and lasting several years. Having turned 41 in January, several speculations have arisen around the seven-time world champion regarding his future in Formula 1. In Montreal, where Hamilton has triumphed seven times, the Briton wanted to put an end to retirement rumors, which arose both because of his inconsistent performances driving the Red car and those of Oliver Bearman on the Haas.

Hamilton’s words
“I still have a contract, so everything is 100% clear as far as I am concerned. I am focused, motivated, and I continue to love what I do with all my heart. I think I will stay here for quite a long time, so you better get used to it,” this was his comment at the press conference.
“There are many people trying to make me retire, but it is something that is not even remotely in my thoughts,” he added. “I am already thinking about what lies ahead and planning the next five years. And I will try to stay here for quite a while longer.”

So in 2026
Compared to 2025, Hamilton has undoubtedly started better, achieving the first podium with Ferrari thanks to third place in Shanghai. In recent statements, the seven-time world champion admitted to feeling Ferrari more his own both technically and environmentally. Compared to Charles Leclerc’s results, his remain lower – 43 points against 51 – but without a doubt mentally Hamilton confirms himself much more motivated than 12 months ago.
