MotoGP Barcelona, the Qualifying Report
It is the afternoon of surprises in Catalonia. In a fiercely contested Qualifying session, KTM comes out on top, already credited yesterday as one of the possible protagonists at Montmeló. Under a gloomy sky, threatening but not raining, Pedro Acosta leads the standings with a time of 1:38.710: the Tiburón precedes Alex Marquez by 18 thousandths and teammate Brad Binder by 70 thousandths.

The top-5 is enclosed within 79 thousandths: Johann Zarco snatches it at the last moment, sending Francesco Bagnaia to Q1. A bad day for the two-time world champion, already struggling this morning, who cannot find the key on the GP26 despite progress in front-end feel since the Jerez tests. “Pecco” will face Jorge Martin in Q1, another notable exclusion: the 2024 world champion throws it away with another crash, which came at the end of the session in turn 2. At the first cut, Ai Ogura, who was on the podium at Le Mans, will also be one to watch.
Marco Bezzecchi has no problems, finishing seventh behind Fabio Di Giannantonio. The championship leader will approach FP2 and Qualifying with more calm than Martin, who trails him by one point in the standings, but work is needed on an RS-GP26 that still seems to need fine-tuning in time attack compared to KTM and Ducati. Yamaha does well, placing two riders in the top-10 (excellent work by Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo to find time on a low-grip track), and Joan Mir’s Honda also advances directly to Q2.

The schedule and times
MotoGP returns to the track tomorrow morning at 10:10 with FP2, followed by Qualifying (Q1 at 10:50, Q2 at 11:15) and the Sprint, scheduled for 15:00. Sunday the sixth GP of the year will start at 14:00. Here are the details of all the times and TV information.
