Marquez and Ducati together again
Since last winter, Ducati had not hidden that it had placed the renewal of Marc Marquez, 2025 world champion, at the top of its priority list. The Spanish champion himself had explained that he considered his current team as the first option for his future, but had also hinted at the intention to take some time to evaluate his physical condition.
Physical conditions that did not seem to be optimal in the first three Grands Prix of the season, so much so that the Spaniard explained after Austin that he did not have the necessary strength in his right arm to be explosive from the very beginning of the races.
Won’t it be a classic two-year deal?
Last February, Marquez stated that “if the shoulder improved, he would have signed a two-year renewal” with Ducati, but apparently recent physical difficulties have pushed the Spaniard toward a different proposal.
Journalist Ricard Jovè revealed to Mundo Deportivo: “I believe that the 1+1 contract he is asking Ducati for is due both to his physical condition and the desire to leave a door open in case the bike does not guarantee performance up to his level. His retirement is getting closer and closer, and every passing year takes away the chance to win another title.”

The Spanish journalist then continued: “That 1+1 everyone is talking about makes a lot of sense if you have doubts about your physical condition and no one can guarantee that Ducati will be the best bike in 2027. If you get to next year and things don’t go the right way because your body isn’t cooperating or your bike isn’t, you have the power to decide your future. If in the end he gets that 1+1 that allows him to leave freely, it will be a smart move“, Jové concluded.
