Martinator is second in the World Championship
The start of the 2026 MotoGP has returned to fans the Jorge Martin that Aprilia primarily hoped to see already in 2025 if a chain of injuries truly difficult to digest for the 2024 world champion had occurred.

Martin won the Sprint in the United States and collected important placements including two consecutive second places in the GPs held in Brazil and Texas which place him in second place in the Riders’ standings, four points behind Marco Bezzecchi.

Among Martin’s admirers there is one of significant stature, namely the Australian legend Mick Doohan: “First of all, I like Martin as a person, he is a down-to-earth guy, a normal person and extremely fast and he proved it when he won the world championship with a Ducati at Pramac – the words of Doohan reached by the Spanish publication MARCA – unfortunately, last year he suffered many injuries and went through very difficult times with Aprilia. Now he has had a good start. He is second in the World Championship. Everything is going great for him except that he needs to practice wheelies to celebrate on the lap of honor” he concluded, joking about what happened in Austin at the end of the Sprint.
